A time to give thanks is quickly approaching. While you are thinking about getting that turkey and other goodies for Thanksgiving, consider thinking of those in need.

A Thanksgiving drive-by food drive is being hosted by Stephen Allen, a mortgage agent with Mortgage Centre Canada. The food drive is taking place October 5-6.

“The food drive is in support of the Stratford House of Blessings,” said Allen. “We know that food banks are seeing record numbers of visitors as inflation has been wreaking havoc, and people are trying really hard to get by, so House of Blessings is a great resource for those in need.”

Allen moved to the community about two and a half years ago with his family and he has been planting his roots in Stratford.

“For me giving back is almost an essential part of being part of the community,” said Allen.

Getting involved is easy as all people need to do is go to stratfordfooddrive.com and fill out the date and time that works best for you. Then all donations can be left on front steps, so people don’t need to leave their homes, or even be home to donate.

The food drive is looking for a little bit of everything but non-perishable food is at the top of the list.

“We are looking for items like canned goods, pasta and pasta sauce, rice, cereal, peanut butter, jam, and individually wrapped snacks,” said Allen. “We are also looking for personal hygiene items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, toilet paper, and feminine hygiene products.”
