The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Stratford Police Service (SPS) is inviting residents of Perth County between the ages of 14 and 18 to apply for the inaugural Youth Action Committee. The Youth Action Committee is a leadership opportunity that allows your voice to be heard, creating a lasting impact in both the City of Stratford and Perth County. This is a youth-led committee and will give young people a voice on important issues, including community safety, youth crime, victimization, cyberbullying, and online safety.

Participants will need to be able to commit two to three hours per month, between October and June. Meetings will be held in the evening on the first Wednesday of each month, at locations that rotate around Perth County. A record of volunteer hours will be provided for all participating youth. Transportation assistance, if required, can be discussed with organizers as needed.

"The Youth Action Committee is a great opportunity for youth in Perth County to work directly with police, creating a positive impact on youth in our communities." - Perth County OPP School Resource Officer, Provincial Constable Marg Geurts

Anyone interested is asked to complete an application, which can be picked up at any of the three Perth County OPP Detachments in Listowel, Mitchell, or Sebringville, at the Stratford Police Service, or by emailing [email protected] or [email protected].

The deadline to apply is Sept. 20, 2024.
