The County of Huron, in collaboration with the Avon Maitland District School Board's Multilingual Language Learning team, is thrilled to announce the completion of an innovative project that brought together students from four AMDSB high schools and local artists to create a unique and diverse cookbook. This project involved
students from Food Services classes at FE Madill Secondary School, Central Huron Secondary School, Goderich District Collegiate Institute, and South Huron District High School.

The cookbook, showcasing a variety of recipes that reflect the rich cultural diversity of our community, was unveiled at the Huron County Council meeting on June 26, 2024. Copies will be available for purchase at Huron County libraries.

This initiative was designed to engage students in a creative and educational process, fostering their culinary skills while celebrating the multicultural heritage within our region. The collaboration between the County of Huron and the AMDSB has provided a platform for students to learn, create, and share their culinary traditions
and innovations.

“We are immensely proud of the hard work and creativity demonstrated by the students involved in this project. This cookbook speaks to the diverse talents and cultures within our schools, and we are excited to share it with the community. Our students have developed valuable skills and have also contributed to a meaningful community project that will be cherished for years to come,” said April Smith, Superintendent of Education.

This project was funded with support from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, along with the County of Huron Cultural Services.
