Stratford District Secondary School are hosting an open house later this month with memorabilia available for sale to the public.
The open house comes after the Avon Maitland District School Board announced in the fall of 2019 the reconfiguration of Stratford Central Secondary and Northwestern Secondary into Stratford Intermediate School (SIS) and Stratford District Secondary School (SDSS).
At the time, the Stratford Transformation Project was launched and a public committee formed to guide through the transition process.
The committee worked on recommendations with regards to the handling of school memorabilia, awards, and plaques.
Summer students worked with staff from the Stratford Archives and Stratford Perth Museum as part of the work.
Yearbooks, pennants, trophies, and artwork will be stored at the new schools and some artifacts have been loaned to the Stratford Perth Museum and Archives, which will be on display at the open house.
Remaining surplus, which includes legacy yearbooks, pictures, portraits, plaques, and sports jerseys, will be available for sale (cash only) with proceeds supporting the SIS and SDSS benevolent funds.
All members of the public are invited to the open house, which will be at Stratford District Secondary School on Oct. 27 beginning at 6 p.m.
