Stratford Police Service warn that the theft of these signs causes a serious safety risk to drivers using the roadways

Stratford Police Service are investigating the alleged theft of several road signs throughout the Township of Perth South over the past two weekends.

Police said a municipal employee contacted police about the thefts.

It is unknown exactly when the thefts occurred, however, it was discovered that the signs were stolen after the weekends of April 22 to 23 and April 30 to May 1.

They allege the signs were taken from various locations throughout the municipality.

The missing signs include road warning signs, speed limit signs and road name signs.

Police warn that the theft of these signs causes a serious safety risk to drivers using the roadways.

"Many of these signs are in place to alert drivers of the various hazards on and off the roadway and provide direction to drivers to help them avoid these hazards and maintain road safety," police said in a press release.

There are currently no suspects in this matter, they added.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 519-271-4141 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
