He's a Grammy and Canadian Country Music Association nominee and already has one Country Music Association of Ontario award under his belt, and he's coming to Mitchell on September 20.

Country music star Steven Lee Olsen is the headliner of the first annual Tailgate Music Festival scheduled for this weekend.

“We are super excited to bring this event to Mitchell,” said Julia Blowes of Spottydawg Productions. “We are passionate about bringing bigger headliners to smaller communities, while also highlighting local artists in the process.”

Joining Olsen on stage is Janna Leduc from Milverton, Adam Cousins from Brussels, Bradley Hale, Max Smith and Amelia Jordan.

“This is going to be a mini music festival,” said Blowes. “We’re hoping this becomes an annual event, so we have food trucks, beer and non-alcoholic beverages available throughout the night.”

Doors open up at 5 p.m. at Keterson Park, and the event is for all ages, but geared towards a more highschool plus audience.

“Everyone seems pretty excited about this event,” said Blowes. “The best part is its fundraiser for West Perth Village, which will support seniors in the community. Our business Spottydawg Productions believes the most meaningful part is giving back to the community.”
