St. Marys Quarry opens for another season of swimming June 28.

Canada’s largest freshwater pool, conveniently located in St. Marys is set to re-open its doors by the end of June.

The St. Marys Quarry is coming back this year with three new attractions as well as merchandise.

In an email to StratfordToday Andrea Slade, the town’s Manager of Aquatics said the quarry offers a 25-foot water trampoline, cliff jump, rafts and slide, grassed area for picnics and summer snacks and treats available for purchase at the canteen. She said the popular inflatable waterpark, Super Splash, has three new features this season: an additional iceberg, a rocker and a spinner.

“New this summer is Quarry merchandise, we are selling t-shirts and tote bags, these will be available to purchase from the Quarry canteen,” Slade added.

As for safety protocols, Slade referred to the St. Marys Quarry admission policy which requires children 7 and under wear a lifejacket and be within arms reach of a parent/guardian with a 4:1 ratio, which means four swimmers can be supervised by one caregiver.

Children 8-11 can complete a swim test consisting of 3 minutes of treading water and 100 metre swim. If passed they can be admitted without a lifejacket and if they do not pass, they are required to wear a lifejacket and be within arms reach of a parent/guardian (with the same 4:1 ratio listed above). And ages 12 and up are admitted unaccompanied and asked to swim with a buddy with weak/non swimmers required to wear a lifejacket.

The quarry will open on June 28, offering daily swims from 11 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. Slade said admission to the quarry costs $5 for children and youth (ages 3-18) and $7.50 for adults. Admission to the Super Splash is separate from regular quarry admission; pricing and pass information is available at www.supersplashstmarys.ca.

Resident Season Passes are also available for purchase, offering a discounted rate for loyal local swimmers. The pass is $74.80 for children and youth, and $114.19 for adults; and is valid for weekday admission throughout the season with regular admission applied on weekends.

Also new this year, the Lind Sportsplex is offering room rentals and bookings for special events like birthday parties and community gatherings.
