There are two seasons in Canada, the old joke goes: winter and construction season.
Road construction is well underway in the Festival City, with some projects up and going and more to come.
Currently there are lane reductions on Ontario Street from Queen Street to Parkview Drive for watermain replacement. Additionally, the intersections at Queen Street and Parkview Drive will be closed for short durations as needed.
Work is expected to last until early August.
A portion of O’Loane Avenue will be closed until November for rehabilitation work at Dunn’s Bridge. The closure is from Lorne Avenue to Cody Drive. Banners Drive is also closed at O’Loane Avenue.
The much-discussed Albert Street Reconstruction Phase One begins in July. There will be road closures in three stages at Waterloo Street, Nile Street, and Front Street, as needed.
Phase One is expected to last until November.
The Daly Avenue development is expected to start in late June or early July. The Worsely Development is expected in early July.
Both are full closures.
In September and October, there will be lane reductions on Erie Street from Monteith Avenue to Cambria Street for watermain relining.
A number of projects’ schedules are still pending, including:
- Lane reductions on Ontario Street, from Waterloo Street to Parkview Drive, for asphalt resurfacing.
- Full closure (in stages) on John Street, from Queensland Road to Huron Street, for asphalt resurfacing.
- Lane reductions on Huron Street for phase one of its reconstruction.
- Lane reductions on Quinlan Road for watermain work
Also, the City said this week that Erie Street, from Ontario Street to York Street, will be temporarily closed to through traffic starting Monday (June 26), for two days for sidewalk maintenance.
Nick Sheldon, project manager at the City of Stratford’s infrastructure and development services department, is reminding residents that Engage Stratford is used by the city to keep residents updated on upcoming work.
