Would you like to see a pie thrown in the face of a community member, maybe even Mayor Martin Ritsma?

If you answer yes, then you have to head to Global Pet Foods for their Show Us Your Heart event.

“This is an annual campaign hosted by Global Pet Foods. All Global Pet Foods stores across Canada, which are independently owned and operated, participate in this event to raise money for their local animal rescues and shelters,” said co-owner of the Stratford Global Pet Foods, Britany Quehl. “We have been running the campaign since we opened 14 years ago. The "Pie in the Face" aspect is specific to our location; we have been doing it for about five years. Initially, the 'pie-ing' was just for our team, but for the past two years, we have been thrilled to include other members of the community.”

Joining Ritsma in the 'Pie in the Face' lineup also includes the local owners of the Stratford Global Pet Foods, Adam and Britany, along with their fantastic team members Cole, Marcy, Sofia, Chloe, and Anna. Also joining in are April Wagler from Axel's Imprint Rescue and Sanctuary, Tyler Jouwsma from Paws on Patrol Stratford, and Christine Foster from Pawsitive Difference Professional Pet Care. This year the proceeds raised are going towards Axel’s Imprint Rescue and Sanctuary located in Shakespeare.

“This small, entirely volunteer-based organization in Perth East and the surrounding area is dedicated to rescuing and fostering cats, and providing them with any necessary veterinary care,” Quehl said. “They treat the cats as their own, ensuring they receive all the care they need until they find their forever homes.”

The event takes place on February 27 at 3:30 p.m. at Global Pet Foods located at 684 Onario Street. The opportunity to pie someone in the face is all done by donation.

“Donations can be made by visiting our store,” Quehl said. “Any amount can be donated, and with that donation, you’ll receive a free bag of dog or cat treats while supplies last. We also donate $1 for every donation made.”

With every $5 donation, you receive a ballot to vote for who you want to get a pie in the face and an entry for a chance to win a $100 gift card to Global Pet Foods and 10 bonus Air Miles. Anyone who would like to watch the lucky winner get a pie in the face is welcome to attend or watch via social media.
