The Township of Perth South posted a boil water advisory to its Facebook page earlier this morning after the Huron Perth Public Health Unit issued the initial advisory for the St. Pauls Drinking Water System as a precautionary measure.

The advisory was sue to an extended loss of pressure and a lack of disinfection following routine maintenance conducted by the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) on March 10. Unexpected complications during that work required a system shutdown, leading to the issuance of the advisory.

It was not issued due to an adverse sample but as a precaution, and the advisory may be in place for two to three days, so residents are asked to plan accordingly; the Township asks that everyone boil water before using it to ensure safety.
