Another large donation towards the skate park facility in St. Marys is a big boost for the ongoing fundraising campaign.
Now known as Rotary All Wheels Park after St. Marys Rotary Club donated $100,000 to the campaign to repair and expand the skate park, St. Marys Town Council received news this week that Saputo Inc. is donating $25,000 towards the facility on James Street.
"The original goal was $250,000 from donations and sponsorships, and we are currently at around $190,000," André Morin, director of corporate services/treasurer, told StratfordToday. "Having said that we have applied for a grant that, if successful, would put us well over our target."
Jeff Wolfe, infrastructure services manager, said work is progressing well from a construction perspective and the project is on track to have the concrete works done in the next couple of weeks. Site restoration will go into early November, he said.
The Town constructed the original concrete skate park in 2013
The park is open during construction but some parts could be closed to accommodate work.
Funds raised will be used to add new features, including a quarter pipe, bowl, and pump track.
Donations are accepted online via credit card, online banking, or in-person at the municipal operations centre (408 James St. S), or by mailing a cheque to the Town of St. Marys.
Additional information is available at the Town’s website.
