McDonald’s restaurants in Stratford, St. Marys and New Hamburg together raised $28,655 during the annual McHappy Day fundraiser.

Kerry Prober, owner/operator said employees at the two locations in Stratford, as well as the recently opened St. Marys location and New Hamburg all worked hard to spread the word about McHappy Day.

“Staff were actively engaged, raising awareness in the community.”

Held each year on the first Wednesday in May, McHappy Day raises money for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). This year, 10 per cent of proceeds went to RMHC. In addition to dine-in and take-out options, customers were also able to order through the McDonald’s app, where available, and could purchase merchandise through the ‘Peace Collective, or donate money at the restaurant.

Prober said the 2020 event was cancelled. Last year it was held in September.

According to the McDonald’s website, RMHC helps over 26,000 families from 3,400 communities across Canada in an average year. Families are provided a place to stay together and close to their sick child in hospital.

Since the first House opened in Toronto in 1981, RMHC Canada has helped over 436,000 families with sick children stay together.

Prober said her local teams of employees are really proud of their contributions and she they are grateful for the community’s support.
