An annual artist run holiday marker is coming back this year to Stratford’s Factory 163. The 13th annual Start Stratford Art Show and Sale is coming up November 16 and 17.
The show was started in 2011, and is the brainchild of Jo-Dee Burbach and Ann Baggley. Both wanted to celebrate local artists, and the show grew from a one-day event to a two-day showcase with 50 vendors confirmed for this year's edition.
“We have something for everyone,” said co-organizer Courtney Othen. “The show features pottery, fine art, fine jewellery, artisan clothing, artisan florals, illustration, sculptures, and everything in between.”
Everything takes place at Factory 163, there is free parking, no admission, and Revel will be serving pastries, coffee and tea at the show. Donations will be accepted for the Stratford Libraries Makerspace.
“As artists ourselves we want to support the next generation of artists,” said Othen. “The Makerspace is an amazing opportunity for everyone, so we are excited to help them with what they need in the future whether that's materials or keeping costs down for people.”
This year's show will feature a new piece called the Legacy Lounge, which will highlight Baggley's career.
“The Legacy Lounge will feature photos from the market and the magazine Ann co-founded,” said Othen. “She started the market when there were not many other markets around, but she is such a fabulous photographer and this will showcase her work.”
This year's show will run from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on November 16, and 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on November 17.
