Actress Kim Roberts is set to star in award winning playwright Andrea Scott’s production Get That Hope at the Stratford Festival this summer. Kim is an internationally known Canadian actress of stage and screen with over 200 credits under her name (Paw Patrol, The Changeling, The Handmaids Tale, Schitt’s Creek, The Good Doctor, Alert: Missing Persons Unit, etc.) Kim is also a co-founder of the Obsidian Theatre company, Canada’s pre-eminent Black theatre company. Kim will play Margaret Whyte in the world debut at Stratford Festival’s 2024 season. Get That Hope introduces us to Richard Whyte who is determined to celebrate Jamaican Independence Day in style. The rice is soaking, the ginger beer is cooling and today his lottery ticket is finally going to hit it big! But Richard's squabbling family have other ideas. Over the course of a single sweltering day in Toronto's Little Jamaica, a lifetime of buried secrets and dreams will surface, forcing a re-examination of true independence. The play runs July 21-Sept. 28.

"Working with this cast and crew has been a dream! Under the direction of Andre Sills, Andrea Scott’s words come to life and leap off the page. They grab you and don’t let you go until the play is over. And then you’re probably gonna wanna see it all over again. The role of Margaret Whyte has been a joy to embrace. She has so many layers and colours that exploring this character has truly fulfilled the actor in me. I can’t wait for you all to meet her and the rest of the Whyte family!”  – Actress Kim Roberts.
