Please join us on Monday October 7 at 1 p.m. to celebrate the arts and environmental stewardship as we honour a 90-year-old Gingko tree, this year’s Stratford-Perth “Tree of the Year.” The tree stands as the centrepiece and anchor of the storied and beloved Stratford Festival Gardens steps from the main entrance to the theatre.

Following short remarks from Marianne Van den Heuvel, a co-founder of Stratford Perth Tree Trust and the MC for the event, we’ll hear remarks from Joelle Bulbrook, the Festival’s Head Gardener and Larry Mc Cabe, a Stratford city councillor. Dignitaries will unveil a plaque honoring the repair work to be done that day by Tim Lott (of Tim’s Tree Care) to help extend the life and environmental benefits of this glorious old tree.

Over the past four years, SPTT has repaired and cared for 12 major local trees in our community and planted and provided follow-up care to 10 new trees. This has
resulted in storing about 30 tonnes of carbon as our contribution to help reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from Stratford and Perth County.
