The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth (HSKWSP) has launched an urgent appeal campaign to raise funds for five puppies that were found abandoned in a small box in Kitchener.

The puppies, currently being fostered by Humane Society staff members, were found on Homer Watson Boulevard by the 401 highway ramp. The good Samaritan who found them took them home and called the Humane Society.

“Late on Saturday night, the Humane Society responded to a call about abandoned puppies in a box. Our officer picked them up and brought them back to the Kitchener centre. All puppies are healthy and are being cared for by our staff members. The physical examination revealed that the puppies are between the ages of 6 and 8 weeks,” said Victoria Baby, CEO of the HSKWSP.

The HSKWSP estimates that the medical and care costs for the puppies could reach up to $8,200 or more by the time they are ready for adoption. This includes the cost of spaying and neutering, vaccinations, microchips, deworming, and cost of care till they are ready to find their forever home.

“Being a self-funded and self-governed organization that receives no government funding for our charitable programs and services, we rely on our community’s generosity to provide this life-saving care. We truly hope you’ll donate today in the way that works best for you,” added Victoria.

The puppies will remain in foster care until they are old enough and ready to find their forever homes. If you’re considering adoption, please visit the Humane Society’s website, where all animals are listed when ready.

Consider making a one-time donation for the puppies here. Anything raised above and beyond will go to care for animals who need it the most. For more information on the initiatives of the Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth, please click here.
