The success of a holiday program has netted nearly $2,000 for the Stratford Connection Centre.

Jamie Pritchard, general manager of the Downtown Stratford Business Improvement Area (BIA), said the $1,957.70 donation, which was presented at the BIA office at 47 Downie St., was collected from visitors at the BIA's 2023 Winter Wander-land event.

“The Connection Centre was chosen as they are in the downtown and take care of all of the folks from our downtown that really need this space,” Pritchard said.

Based out of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in the downtown, the centre offers a warm place out of the cold as well as an opportunity to connect with community supports.

Pritchard added that the two weekend events, held earlier in December, were a huge success.

There were 4,200 carousel rides, more than 650 people visited Santa Claus at Market Square, 1,436 s’more kits and 2,600 candy canes were handed out.

He also pointed out that an unquantifiable amount of holiday joy was also spread.
