Downtown Stratford Business Improvement Area (BIA) has announced further details of its annual holiday program.
It’s on now until Dec. 22 and includes a Downtown Dollars initiative and two feature event weekends, Nov. 25, 26 and Dec. 2,3.
"The committee has been working very hard for weeks planning, preparing, and thinking outside of the box to provide an inclusive experience all will enjoy," said Kim Giffiths, membership and animation liaison for the BIA and holiday sub-committee organizer, in a media release.
Ride the Magical Carousel is returning for another season. According to the BIA, you can ride your horse round and round to enchanting holiday music, with all funds collected in a free-will donation box going to the Stratford Connection Centre, a local social services organization.
The carousel runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. across both weekends. S’mores at the fire pits returns for another year. Guests can roast marshmallows and make delicious S’mores while warming up fingers, toes and filling the tummy with treats before trying out the carousel rides.
You can find Santa in his bright red sleigh in Market Square on Dec. 2,3 from Noon to 3:30 p.m. Bring your cameras for kids (or pets) to let Santa know if they’ve been naughty or nice – and what they’re wishing for this year. Photos are free before he dashes off to duty in the Santa Claus Parade of Lights from 5-7 p.m.
Artisan blacksmith, John Walker of Fallen Willow Forge, will be back for the first Winter Wander-land weekend, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Victorian Christmas Carollers. will grace guests with their enchanting melodies Dec. 2,3 from Noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Prepare to listen or sing along to some of the most cherished holiday classics as they wander through downtown streets.
On Dec. 15, to keep the festivities bright, beautiful, and interactive downtown, the BIA is the sponsor of Lights On Stratford’s animation 'Dandelion' in Market Square. Dandelion runs through the balance of Wander-land and through to Jan. 13.
