December was a busy month for the Stratford Police Department. During the most recent Police Services Board meeting, statistics were released.
In Stratford, police responded to 1285 calls for service, and laid 278 charges. There were 53 calls related to mental health, three overdoses and two suicide appearances. Police had 36 calls related to domestic related matters, four assaults, two sex offences, three break and enters, 66 motor vehicle collisions, one auto theft, and 18 cases of frauds.
In St. Marys, there were 134 calls for service which led to 35 charges total. Police responded to four mental health related calls in December. Other calls included seven domestic related matters, two assaults, two sex offences, one break and enter, and two frauds, and 11 motor vehicle collisions.
In Perth South there were 92 calls for service with 21 charges laid. In Perth South there were no calls related to mental health. There was one sex offence, one break and enter, three frauds, and 12 motor vehicle collisions.
The Board also heard Crime Stoppers statistics for November and December: in November, there were 34 new Crime Stoppers tips, with 17 related to Stratford. 13 were intelligence based, while the other four were drug related; December Crime Stoppers saw 29 tips, with 10 of the tips related to Stratford. Seven were intelligence related, while the other three were drug related.
