Voting in the city of Stratford for the 2022 municipal election is underway, as of 10 a.m. this morning (Friday).
There are three candidates running for mayor and 29 candidates running for one of 10 city councillor positions on Stratford city council.
The City of Stratford uses internet and telephone voting, there are no in-person polls.
In an effort to educate our readers about the people running, StratfordToday sent out interview invitations to all mayoral and councillor candidates. We have compiled written stories on the three mayoral candidates and 27 of 29 councillor candidates (two did not get back to us when asked for an interview).
There are also some stories about incumbents who decided not to seek re-election as well as stories about debates.
In addition, StratfordToday partnered with Ballinran Entertainment to film seven candidate roundtables that touched on the issues affecting the city and offered candidates the space and time to discuss them in one-hour segments. Considering the large field of candidates, we felt this was of benefit to the community to space the discussions out and allow more feedback for the public. According to our analytics, the roundtable productions drew a considerable audience, demonstrating a high level of interest and engagement.
