If you have a senior with dementia in your life, you’re probably looking for ways to keep them active and engaged. Social engagement in particular is incredibly important and offers many valuable benefits for older adults.

To help the senior in your life thrive, Memorable Moments Senior Care Services offers home care and dementia-specific social programs. They are a leader in senior care services, providing a much-needed service in the community that is both dependable and exceptional.

Their offerings help boomers, seniors and caregivers and are tailored to seniors who require ongoing care and personal support, specializing in dementia care. The programs promote independence, include creative problem-solving and purposeful activities, and are run by educated and engaging staff members. Participants get to join a small group where they are stimulated cognitively and socially.

Founder and CEO Erin Koot aims to provide compassionate care in an empowering environment. Her business, which she started in December 2019, offers non-medical home care services to seniors and was designed to help seniors live their best possible lives.

“We would love the opportunity to help you or a loved one stay at home,” says Erin. “What you can expect from us is dependable, caring, and knowledgeable caregivers striving to go above and beyond to provide the highest quality of care.”

  • Services are provided by experienced and certified Recreation Therapists and PSWs include:
  • Recreation therapy/companionship/caregiver respite
  • Transportation: errands/friends/appointments
  • Meal prep
  • Assistance with the activities of daily living (ADL)
  • Medication reminders/assistance
  • Exercises/walks
  • Light housekeeping
  • Virtual reality therapy

If there is something you’re looking for that isn’t listed above, you are encouraged to ask. If Erin is not able to assist, she will do her best to pair you with another home care provider.

She started her half-day dementia-specific day program in 2021. It was Erin’s way to provide families caring for their loved one with dementia with more options. It’s a unique program that offers two wonderful benefits: it provides respite for caregivers and the chance to engage with others for clients who are living with dementia.

Her popular community program includes music, meal service, exercise and socialization. Local performers visit to sing some of the classics that participants know and love. They can enjoy lunch or a snack, depending on their preferences and budget. All of the programs include a chair exercise component and a physical game is usually included as well. Every program maintains a small group atmosphere to encourage socialization and connection. There are also themed discussion topics, brain teasers and crafts—a little something for everyone.

There are just a few criteria participants must meet in order to join the community program. They must not be disruptive for other clients. They must be able to use the washroom with minimal cues. If they use a wheelchair, they must be able to self-transfer in the washroom. And they must be able to participate in a group program.
