Margaret Agnes O'Brien, age 95, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on May 19, 2024. Born in Dublin, Ontario daughter of the late Ambrose and Agnes (Flanagan) Givlin.
Beloved wife of the late William Joseph O’Brien who predeceased her August 12, 1972. Loving mother of Chris (Wendy), Patricia Prockter (Bruce), Edward O’Brien - deceased August 12, 1972. She will be missed by her grandson Quinn O’Brien (Rachel) and her great grandson Seamus. Sister of Marie Givlin, Viola Moser (Harold). Sister-in-law of Frank Whaling. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by siblings Anna Nolan (Dennis), James Givlin (Rita), Teresa Laverty (Wilfred), Rita Mullin (Wilfred), Patrick Givlin, Sister Leona Givlin, Ursula Givlin, Rose Whaling, Joseph Givlin, John Givlin.
Margaret worked for many years at the Canadian Red Cross and later the Stratford Festival for 12 years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Stratford and the CWL where she received her 50 year pin in 2007.
Visitation for friends and family will be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St. Stratford on Thursday, May 23, from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday at St. Joseph’s Church, 96 Huron Street, Stratford from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Following the reception in the parish hall, burial will take place at Avondale Cemetery.
