David Daniel Hubbs passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 28, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones.
He leaves behind his best friend and devoted wife Karen (nee Dynan) and his loving family: son Steven, daughter Rebecca, son-in-law Alex Augruso, grandchildren Emerson, Violette, Scarlet and Sophie Augruso, and brother Wayne Hubbs. David will be dearly missed by sisters-in-law Claire (Dan Ford) and Julie (Dave Schaller) and his nieces Kayla and Danielle, nephews Devon, Jayden and Marty, and great nephews Rhylon, Rory, Braxton and Bentley. He is predeceased by his parents Freda and Danny Hubbs.
David was an avid sports enthusiast with encyclopedic knowledge of everything sports related. With a phenomenal memory for statistics, no matter what the year, if someone had a question, he had the answer – from hockey to baseball, curling and golf. His support for his favourite teams, The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays never wavered.
Most of all, David’s heart exploded the day he became a papa. He was very proud of that title and took it seriously – his arms always open for a snuggle, his lap always ready to be sat upon, always ready to listen, talk or play a game. And he loved his grandchildren as he did his own children, more than life itself. He was not afraid to show it.
As was his wish, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be arranged at a later date.
