Volunteer Maura Knox assembles a bag for participants from the produce collected from local grocery stores for the Banff Food Rescue on Friday (Feb. 26). The volunteer-driven organization's goal is to provide food security in the Bow Valley by keeping good food from becoming food waste. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, volunteers now prepare bags of food to hand out at evening distributions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Participants are encouraged to donate $5 for a bag of food. Do you have extra food and goods that you are able to donate? The Avondale United Church is looking for a couple of staple items.

They include peanut butter, jam, cereal, and instant coffee, which will be put towards their food shelf program.

Donations will be accepted during office hours between 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and are also accepted on Sundays before or after the service.

All donations provided towards the churches shelf program go towards feeding people in the Stratford and community area.
