The Flight Children’s Choir from Stratford will be taking the stage in Grand Bend to spread some holiday cheer, and they'll be joining Canadian singer/songwriter, Susan Aglukark for two matinee performances of 'This Season of Magic' at the Huron Country Playhouse December 14-15.
“I wanted to give Flight Children’s Choir a chance to have a sort of premier,” said Artistic Director at Huron Waves Music Festival John Miller.
If Miller’s name sounds familiar it should. In 2001, Miller founded and was the Artistic Director at Stratford Summer Music for 18 years. He joined Huron Waves, which aims to bring quality professional music to underserved communities near Lake Huron, in 2018 after he retired from Stratford Summer Music.
“The youth choir will sing at least three songs with Susan, and they are really excited about the opportunity,” said Miller.
Aglukark is recognized as one of Canada’s most beloved cultural treasures. She was a part of a Huron Waves event earlier this year that celebrated National Indigenous Peoples Day, and that’s when Miller convinced her to participate in a Christmas show.
“Susan will sing traditional songs, you know Silent Night, and other traditional Christmas carols,” said Miller. “She will also sing (Inuit) songs she learned as a child.
The show is designed for ages seven and up and provides an opportunity to get into the holiday spirit with your friends and family.
“This is truly an event for all ages,” says Miller. “Susan’s warmth, combined with the choir’s angelic voices, will make for an unforgettable afternoon that will resonate with families, friends, and fans.”
