A local woman is using her platform to help those in need this holiday season.

Nicole Adams-Tew runs a Facebook group/online marketplace called Cole Mart, and now she is teaming up with the Stratford Lion’s Club to help keep the community warm this winter. She said when she heard the Lions were doing a sock drive, that she bought a palette of socks to participate in the charity.

“How it works for me is customers make a $5 donation, and I make sure a package of socks is donated on their behalf each week,” said Adams-Tew. “When the week is up I add up all the donations and I match them.”

This weekend alone Adams-Tew and her customers combined to donate 28 packages of socks for the Lions Sock Drive.

“We have all been through hard times once,” she said. “When you are able to help you it's nice to do what you can.”

Customers have been telling Adams-Tew that it's a great idea, and there have been many fantastic responses.

If you want to support the Lion’s Club and Adams-Tew there are a couple of locations you can visit including Dave’s Diner and L and L Garage in Sebringville.

“All you have to do is put your name on the sign-up sheet, and pay for the donation,” Adams-Tew said. “I will then make sure all the donations get to the sock drive along with the matching donation.”

The Lion's Sock Drive will be on until the end of November, and if you are looking for other locations to donate, head to the Stratford Mall on the weekends and members of the club will be accepting donations.
