John Wilkinson is elected chair of the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance’s Board of Directors.

The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) is privileged to announce that two new members were elected to its Board of Directors at the recent 2023-24 Annual Members Meeting:

  • Franklin Famme, CPA, CA, Partner, Famme and Company Professional Corporation
  • Bill Whetstone, Commercial Lead, Bruce Power, and Municipality of Bluewater Bayfield Ward Councillor

Sincere thanks were extended at the Meeting to departing Board Members Gary Austin and Joe Looby, who was also outgoing treasurer, for their stellar service and contributions while on the Board.

Following the Annual Members Meeting, the Board held its 2024-25 Organizational Meeting where Greg Stewart and John Wilkinson were subsequently elected vice-chair and chair of the Board. Franklin Famme was elected as treasurer.

“I am very much looking forward to continuing to serve our HPHA communities as chair of the Board,” said Mr. Wilkinson. “We are facing a period of significant change. The HPHA is well positioned to continue as a leader locally, provincially and nationally as we advance towards a truly sustainable health system focused on improving the health and wellness of all Canadians.

”An experienced corporate director, John has been a member of the volunteer HPHA Board of Directors since 2021, most recently serving as vice-chair. He assumed the role of chair after Stephen Hearn completed his two-year term in June 2024. Steve joined the HPHA Board in 2016 and was thanked for his incredible leadership as chair, notably by advancing the organization through the public process that resulted in the formal amalgamation of the four HPHA corporations, effective April 1, 2024. Steve will continue as a key member of the Board and will assume the role as chair of the Governance, Community Relations and System Transformation Committee. Replacing John as vice-chair is Greg Stewart who has been on the HPHA Board since 2021. Greg is a lawyer with Donnelly Murphy Lawyers where he practices primarily in the areas of Municipal, Planning, Employment, Civil Litigation and Corporate Law.

Eight Community Members were also introduced at the Annual Members Meeting as having been recently appointed by the Board to the HPHA’s Board Committees.

  • Kevin Hulley, Clinton and Area

“The HPHA and those we serve benefit significantly from local volunteer leaders who step forward to govern,” said Andrew Williams, president and chief executive officer. “Strong, innovative, accountable, patient-focused, system-first governance is a hallmark of the HPHA, and today’s announcement reinforces this moving forward.”
