We had such a positive response to our Sold Out VIP Screenings of this Classic Holiday film at The Bruce Hotel that we decided to add another screening at City Hall as a holiday gift to the whole community.
So, the New Stratford Film Festival is pleased to announce its first Community Throwback Classic Cinema Screening of “It’s A Wonderful Life” – the Frank Capra tale of faith, family and fun. The film is, of course, based on a short story, “Greatest Gift” & Charles Dickens' “A Christmas Carol” and stars Jimmy Stewart as George Bailey, a small town hero who grows weary of his pedestrian existence. Left broke and despondent after a run on his family owned bank, George believes his life is worthless but slowly – with the help of his Guardian Angel, Clarence, (and like Scrooge on Xmas eve), he is taken to various points in his life and comes to realize the impact he has had on his family and community.
It’s a timeless story we’re sure you’ve enjoyed before, but see it again, on a big screen in Digitally Re-Mastered Living COLOR --- (we know, we know... sacrilege ... although Capra was in favor) ... and this version breathes new life into a classic film.. Trust us, after the first minute you'll forget all about the black & white world during this very special Community holiday event.
It's a Donation Event where we ask everyone who can to bring donations of new, unwrapped toys, food and personal items for those who might welcome some gifts to brighten up the season.
Representatives from Emily Murphy Center, Stratford House of Blessing Food Bank & Shelterlink Youth Services will be present (see what we did there) to accept your donations.
Popcorn is available and the event will be introduced by film scholar and SFF General Manager, Bill Harris.
